Little Rock paper seeks business reporter

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette has an opening for a business reporter to work with our team in the Little Rock newsroom.

The position is general assignment but includes beat coverage of residential and commercial real estate development, industrial and other business development in Arkansas and activity at the Port of Little Rock.

Experience covering publicly traded companies and reporting on quarterly earnings reports and other government filings of interest is a plus. Also a plus are social media skills.

A candidate for this job should have a bachelor’s degree in journalism or relevant experience.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, located in the capital city of Little Rock, is a family owned newspaper committed to providing news without bias.

Our aim is to be the No. 1 source of news in Arkansas. We have a commitment to news and aggressively defend the state Freedom of Information Act and the public’s right to know.

The Democrat-Gazette shifted the bulk of its subscribers to an electronic edition that can be viewed on tablets, mobile phones and computers. A print edition is delivered on Sundays. A small number of daily editions are printed for rack sales.

Little Rock sits on the Arkansas River, where the start of the Ouachita Mountains meets the Delta. It’s the home of the Clinton Presidential Center. The capital is a central location from which, in a matter of hours, one can enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, fishing or hunting; hop from one antique store to the next; or visit Dallas, Memphis or New Orleans.

This is a safety-sensitive position. A candidate must pass a drug screening, have a driving record that meets company policy and must be fully vaccinated by date of hire. If interested in applying, please contact: Business Editor Jim Kordsmeier jkordsmeier@adgnewsroom.com
