Digiday seeks publishing news reporter

Digiday is looking for a reporter to help our growing publishing team tell the story of how the digital evolution is reshaping the industry.

Responsibilities include:

-Identifying and producing stories on the business of publishing along themes (i.e. the rise of mobile, platform distribution and monetization, ad blocking, video)

-Developing sources in person and over the phone and participating in company’s out-of-town conferences

-Working out of NYC office 5 days a week

Requirements

-Have an interest in the business underpinnings that drive and inform media and publishing

-Be able to identify what makes for a good media-business “Digiday” story

-Be able to work quickly and independently

-Feel comfortable with writing articles of varying lengths, tempos and formats (chart-driven, Q&A, narrative feature) depending on what the story calls for

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
