Detroit News seeks an assistant business editor

The Detroit News is seeking a curious-minded and determined editor who can be part of a dedicated team of journalists covering the business community in Metro Detroit and Michigan.

The News is an award-winning news operation that serves millions of unique visitors every month. A qualified candidate should have excellent news judgment, a firm grasp of storytelling and a strong desire to own coverage on stories that matter most.

This person will work with a collaborating group of editors and lead a team of reporters in developing content for digital and print media, focusing on winning the news battle in Metro Detroit and the rest of Michigan.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
