Debtwire ABS is seeking an experienced financial markets journalist to cover secondary trading of securitized products and mortgages.
Primary coverage markets will include non-agency residential mortgage backed securities (RMBS), whole residential mortgages and mortgage servicing rights (MSRs). Coverage will also include secondary trading of collateralized debt obligations (CDOs), CDO liquidations and secondary trading of collateralized loan obligations (CLOs). Coverage may also include other types of securitized debt, including certain types of asset-backed securities (ABS) and whole consumer and business loans and commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS).
Experience with some or all of these market sectors is preferred. However, strong consideration will be given to journalists who can demonstrate experience covering financial markets of any sort. This will be a highly collaborative position. The journalist will be expected to work closely with other reporters on the Debtwire ABS team.
Reporters are responsible for breaking news and identifying trends ahead of other news outlets. They are expected to be proactive in cultivating and developing industry sources who can provide a steady flow of exclusive news tips.
The position can be based in New York or Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Some travel is required.
Along with a resume and cover letter, please forward 5-6 clips that showcase your ability to develop sources among both traders and investors, and to write compelling copy that demonstrates a command of trends affecting financial markets.
