Crain’s New York Business is looking for a reporter to cover New York City and state politics and government, and the impact New York’s politicos and policies have on the businesses and economy of New York.
Candidates should have a working knowledge of the beat and be able to produce daily stories for crainsnewyork.com, articles and features for our weekly print issue, and nuggets for the Morning Insider newsletter.
Economics and business reporting experience is a plus.
An ideal applicant will be able to write quickly and cleanly for the web and to craft compelling print stories—be they 300 words or 3,000—on the city’s fascinating characters, trends and scandals. Your writing will not simply convey facts but offer insight on why things are happening and what will happen next.
It will appeal not just to business people but to all New Yorkers and be penned in prose that sings, not in industry jargon. Crain’s reporters also have opportunities to represent the paper in local TV news and radio interviews and to moderate discussions at Crain’s events.
