This is a great job for an organized grammarian who excels under deadline pressure and knows how to tighten up copy, write compelling headlines for print, web and social media and catch errors before they leave the newsroom.
The copy editor will oversee a stable of freelancers and work closely with a smart and congenial staff of writers and editors to make copy tighter, clearer and easier to read. The editor will also be in charge of managing the flow of copy and will manage pages circulated for proofing and input changes made by other copy editors.
An understanding of New York City neighborhoods and the characters that inhabit them is essential, as is fluency with the language of business and AP style.
We are a small and supportive newsroom filled with exceptionally talented journalists who break important news and tell stories about the world’s most vibrant economy. Come be a part of it! (Please include in your cover letter a copy edited version of this job posting.)
