Crain is seeking an editor to help our team cover business news around the country as part of a group of newsletters and websites Crain Communications launched last year. (Visit http://www.crains.com/ to see what we’re working on.)
The job will involve curating stories for our Monday through Friday newsletters and editing original business stories from around the country.
Candidates should be media-savvy, voracious consumers of media who can work flexible hours in a fast-paced, continually evolving environment. Candidates should also have experience editing and writing both original copy and curated material, as well as a firm grasp of AP Style. Editors must be able to adapt to our concise, insightful and funny—but never snarky—editorial voice and have proficiency in crafting messages on social media platforms such as Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook.

Basic qualifications include:
Background in business journalism
Ability to write detailed copy across a variety of beats with efficiency, including high-value headlines and SEO
Experience with Drupal, WordPress or similar content management systems
Team spirit and history of collaborating with editors, web developers and graphic designers
Aptitude for generating excitement about new products and enthusiasm about the brand
Proficiency in social media strategy
Speed and efficiency in breaking news settings
