CNNMoney seeks stock market reporter

January 19, 2015

Posted by Chris Roush

CNNMoney, the business news unit of CNN, is looking for a new reporter to join the award-winning team that covers the stock market and economy.

The job is about 75 percent covering breaking news (e.g. oil price crash, stock market corrections, earnings reports, initial public offerings, GDP, inflation and unemployment reports) and 25 percent feature stories and “deep dive” analyses.  The primary focus will be the United States, but there will be coverage of global markets from time to time as well.

While many media outlets cover stocks, bonds and the economy, CNNMoney specializes in breaking down markets news for real people. We developed #YourEconomy, Inside Wall Street, and the Fear & Greed Index, among other tools and story-telling methods to put a human face on business news.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will have 1 to 3 years reporting experience with a business publication, wire service, major newspaper or online news site, and be comfortable delving into financial reports such as SEC filings, balance sheets and government data. Excellent research, interviewing and writing skills and ability to remain calm in a fast-paced, breaking news environment are critical.

We expect some knowledge of financial markets and a keen interest in investing and business news. At least a BA/BS degree Economics, Journalism, English or related field.
