CNNMoneyCNNMoney.com is recruiting for a senior assignment editor in New York.

We’re looking for an experienced news manager who can take charge of our early morning coverage (6 a.m. ET) across the whole range of topics in CNNMoney’s wheelhouse — the people, conflicts and trends that connect money, business, tech, media, the economy and markets. Discover, assign, edit and (as needed) write the most important stories of the day.

  • Covering breaking news, principally as an editor but, as needed, as a writer as well
  • Developing strong and distinctive enterprise storylines and finding ever more creative ways to tell stories
  • Working as key partner to the managing editor on planning early morning coverage, working with the senior editor for breaking news
  • Working closely with editors, video and TV journalists, designers, and programmers to ensure your stories are seen by millions
  • Managing special projects/assignments
  • Developing, managing and creating content focused on a user-driven strategy that understands the nuances of packaging content for the web, mobile web, social and apps
  • Ensuring the editorial “voice” of CNNMoney comes through in every piece of content you touch
  • ▪Directly managing reporters; assigning work, providing guidance and handling aspects such as recruitment, performance management, development, etc.
  • Collaborating with teams large and small to assist the growing CNNMoney newsroom.
  • Mentoring other members of the newsroom and playing a leadership role where appropriate

What do we need from you?

  • Ideal candidates will have 8-plus years of writing and reporting experience.
  • Strong research, interviewing and writing skills.
  • Proven experience covering a beat
  • Some knowledge of financial markets and a keen interest in investing and business news.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast high pressure environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Television-Film Production, Communications, or related discipline or equiv. work experience.
