Business Insider seeks tech startups reporter

Business Insider is hiring a full-time tech startups reporter in our San Francisco office.

This reporter should have:

Passion for the tech startup scene, and for the personalities at the center of it. You thrive on meeting the various players, going to conferences and parties, and getting the latest gossip.

Experience breaking news and ability to sniff out the real story; the stuff that’s not in the press release.

Ability to analyze complex business, tech and financial issues and write about them in a way that’s compelling to BI’s broad audience.

A drive to be the first to report the latest acquisition, the hot funding news or the big hire, and the ability to juggle fast-breaking stories on deadline and longer, in-depth features and projects.

Ideal candidates will also have:

  • Interest in digital media and how readers consume news on the web
  • At least two years of experience writing and/or editing at a magazine or online publication
  • Copy-editing skills, light HTML and Photoshop experience, and knowledge of social media are also useful
