Business Insider is hiring a full-time tech reporter to cover the business of Amazon and the ecommerce space more broadly.
This person will cover all things Amazon, from bizarre items selling on its website to its ever-changing Marketplace platform. This reporter will be responsible for covering the daily news related to the company, but will also be expected to develop sources and deliver scoops. In addition, the reporter will also help cover other ecommerce giants and their strategies.
The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced news environment and is enthusiastic about writing a mix of articles, including reported features, short posts, and analysis pieces.
You will write stories like:
- Amazon is making 3 small changes to its seller policies that add up to a big win for customers
- Teens love shopping on Amazon, even when they’re not buying anything
- Amazon is missing a giant opportunity and it leaves the door wide open for someone else to steal a chunk of the market
- Amazon completely invented Prime Day, and now it has grown to rival Black Friday and Cyber Monday
- Jeff Bezos has said that Amazon has had failures worth billions of dollars — here are some of the biggest ones
Business Insider is looking for someone with:
- Strong writing skills.
- Excellent news judgement and a strong ability to quickly frame stories in a clear, conversational way that makes people want to read more.
- The ability to work at a fast pace as part of a team.
- Experience covering business news.
- Comfortable writing trend stories, analysis, and short news hits.
- A team player who is excited about the opportunity to own BI’s Amazon coverage.
This is a full-time position based in either New York or San Francisco.
