Business Insider seeks social media editor to join London team

Business Insider is looking for a social media editor to join its team in London.
The social media editor will be responsible for collaborating with the global distribution team to ensure Business Insider and Insider stories reach as wide an audience as possible across the globe. This includes through major social media platforms, third-party platforms, and directly via site and app push notifications.
This person will also work with the video distribution team to support the distribution of video content across existing and emerging platforms. They will manage a small team in the London office.
The ideal candidate will be able to think creatively, display excellent news judgment and be confident in building strong relationships with platform representatives. They will be on top of platform best practices and be able to communicate these effectively across the newsroom.
This person will also be responsible for using analytics to monitor performance and make data-driven decisions to support future growth.
Business Insider is looking for someone who has a voracious appetite for news and a deep understanding of the stories that people want to share. They should understand the ever-evolving world of social networks and other platforms, and possess the interpersonal skills as well as the technical know-how to support Business Insider and Insider’s growth globally.
The ideal candidate:
  • Has 3-5 years of experience in a newsroom, and a background in journalism
  • Has a proven track record in managing and growing reach and performance across a range of platforms for a reputable media company or publication
  • Is a sharp writer with a proven talent for framing headlines
  • Is a master networker who can negotiate and manage dozens of partnerships
  • Has experience in using analytics to inform decisions
  • Has a solid grasp on SEO and experience of maximising Google traffic
