Business Insider seeks an associate media editor

Business Insider is hiring an editor to help shape our coverage of the media industry and manage a growing group of reporters.

Our media vertical delivers deep dives, scoops, and takes on breaking news on everything from the digital transformation of Hollywood and streaming services like Netflix to the rise of creators on platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.

We want someone who is excited about the breadth of these topics and someone with a particular interest in helping guide our coverage of the creator economy, social-media platforms, and influencer marketing. We value creativity, accountability, and diversity of ideas and opinions. We want someone with a vision for how we can build on our existing coverage and get better every day.

You should have strong news judgment and be comfortable with a range of story formats and turnaround times. The position will report to Nathan McAlone, senior media editor.

The associate editor will be responsible for:

  • Editing, fielding pitches, assigning, and occasionally writing a range of stories.
  • Framing and translating industry news to appeal to a broader audience.
  • Managing a growing team of reporters and helping them meet their goals.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who has a passion for editing and for helping the career development of reporters.
