Bloomberg seeks energy reporter

Bloomberg News is seeking an analyst/reporter in our Toronto or New York office covering North American energy companies.

The person in this role will be responsible for providing on-the-spot, concise written stories on breaking mergers and acquisitions, IPOs, earnings, and other corporate events involving Canadian and U.S. energy companies.

Reporters responding to this ad should have a minimum of five years of journalism experience and experience covering companies and/or finance in a real-time news environment. Analysts should have the ability and industry-specific knowledge to immediately discern actionable information from breaking news and have strong writing skills.

Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
-Strong work ethic, team player, ability to work calmly in high-pressure environment

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
