Bizwomen.com seeks reporter

May 20, 2015

Posted by Chris Roush

Bizwomen.com is a national news website covering women in business. We are part of American City Business Journals, which owns 43 business publications around the country.

Launched just last year, Bizwomen has become a leading destination for breaking news, in-depth features and thought-provoking interviews with the country’s top female business leaders. We are looking for a reporter to join our team — preferably a news junkie who firmly believes that the women-in-business beat is not limited to cliché stories about work-life balance and who will be committed to making Bizwomen the go-to source for women-in-business news.

Applicants should be intrigued and invigorated by the prospect of working in a fast-paced, startup environment.

A strong work ethic and a commitment to thorough, honest and in-depth reporting are considered must-have qualities, as is the ability and willingness to churn out loads of quality content.

The ideal candidate thrives in the digital space, with a proven ability to establish and grow an audience. Social media know-how is huge, and multimedia skills are a plus.

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Minimum of 2 years of journalism experience with a proven ability in reporting and writing

Ability to break news and to identify newsworthy events and sources

Strong writing, analytical and investigative interviewing skills

Competitive, collaborative, curious

Knowledge of business, and/or business community, a plus

Proven experience building, maintaining and engaging an active audience

Ability to leverage relationships with sources to deliver content that differentiates Bizwomen from competitors

Interested candidates should contact Bizwomen Editor Mary Johnson at maryjohnson@bizjournals.com.
