For this position, we are placing a premium on original and insightful thinking as well as an ability to see exclusive stories in datasets. Candidates should be detail oriented and experienced data journalists, able to gather, clean, analyze and help visualize data in spreadsheets and relational databases. At its core, this is also a reporting and writing position, so the ability to report and tell stories is as important as the ability to work with data.
In some cases, this journalist will jump into a breaking story and explain its context with an insight pulled from readily available data. Other times, the reporter might be working on longer-term projects driven by database development. A collaborative approach is critical since this journalist will work closely with colleagues.
