Anchorage is the state’s population center, with about 300,000 people in the metro area out of a total state population of more than 700,000. The city has many great amenities for all activities, and is within driving distance of many more. Duties may occasionally include contributions for the Chugiak-Eagle River Star, our weekly paper covering the communities just a few miles north of Anchorage.
The state’s leading industries are oil and gas, fishing, tourism, mining, transportation, telecommunications and health care. The federal government and the military are also large employers in Alaska. Responsibilities include filing for the weekly paper and website as well as posting to social media.
A degree in journalism or extensive experience in the field is required. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite products and/or photography skills is a plus.
A drug screen is required. The Alaska Journal of Commerce is an equal opportunity employer. Salary and relocation expenses are negotiable.
Please send a cover letter, writing samples and a resume to Journal of Commerce Managing Editor Andrew Jensen at andrew.jensen@alaskajournal.com.
