Business Insider is hiring a full-time reporter to write about the world of millennial wealth.
Did you know about the Rich Kids of Instagram before they went viral? Were you following the Fyre Festival debacle from beginning to end? If so, we want you to write about millennial wealth for Business Insider.
The ideal candidate will be highly attuned to wealthy millennials’ lifestyles. We want to know where (and how) wealthy millennials travel, what clothes they wear, what brands they love (and hate), where they stay, and where they spend their holidays. This reporter will give our readers an in-depth look at the never-before-seen details of the world’s young, wealthy heirs and entrepreneurs.
The millennial wealth reporter will write a combination of short-form articles and longer, photo-driven features. The role will be based in-house, but may present the opportunity for some travel in the New York City area for originally reported and photographed pieces. The candidate should be excited by the opportunity to tell a story as much through photos as through words, and will be eager to pitch their own stories from day one.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Mastery of photography and some experience editing photos
- An understanding of how readers consume news digitally
- A presence across social channels
- An extensive list of millennial influencers, brands, and blogs that they follow obsessively
- An ability to identify the heart of a story quickly
- Experience working in a newsroom
- Familiarity with SEO practices
- A willingness to take on assignments and execute their own pitches
