Carl Cronan, a business journalist at the Gulf Coast Business Review in Florida and also a former staffer at the Tampa Bay Business Journal, died Wednesday from cancer.
Business Journal editor Alexis Muellner writes, “Many longtime readers are familiar with Carl, who was on the Tampa Bay Business Journal reporting staff when I arrived in Tampa Bay back in August 2004, and rose to be our commercial real estate editor.
“He spent more than nine years on our staff, accumulating a sizeable body of work.
“Given the importance of his beat, Carl developed a strong following and rapport among his sources and colleagues, and his gift for connecting with people lead to many published successes.
“He left us in 2007 to pursue some new opportunities and broader goals in journalism and most recently had joined the staff of the Gulf Coast Business Review.
“I’m told he worked up until his last day — which isn’t surprising given his work ethic.”
