Politico managing editor for policy Clea Benson sent out the following:
We’re excited to announce that Robert King is joining Politico’s health care team to lead our coverage of Medicare and Medicaid — the government insurance programs that account for a third of all U.S. spending on health care.
Robert comes to Politico from Fierce Healthcare, where he covered Medicare and Medicaid and spent time on the Hill covering policies affecting insurers and health care providers. Before joining Fierce Healthcare, he covered health care politics at the Washington Examiner from 2015 to 2018. He closely followed drug-price reform and GOP efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
Before moving to Washington, Robert worked as a reporter for the Northern Virginia Daily in Strasburg, Va., where he covered county and local government as well as the nearby Shenandoah National Park.
Robert lives in Fairfax and is an avid card and board game player. He previously acted in various community theater productions. He has a bachelor’s degree in English from Randolph-Macon College.
Robert gets started today. Please join us in welcoming him to Politico.
