Hi all,I’m thrilled to share the news that Jared Hohlt is joining Ideas & Culture as an Editor at Large. He will take on a variety of projects, including commissioning and editing ambitious feature stories, expanding our roster of freelance writers, helping out with Pursuits while Nicole is on leave, and leading new initiatives.
Jared comes to us from The New York Times, where, since 2022, he’s been the Editorial Director of T, the paper’s style magazine, which won a National Magazine Award for general excellence last spring. From 2019 to 2022, he was the Editor in Chief of Slate, which collaborated with other news organizations like the Marshall Project on editorial initiatives during his tenure. Before that, he served in many roles at New York magazine, including Editor of the print edition, features editor, and culture editor. Prior to that he was a news editor at Inside.com and Managing Editor at the design and architecture magazine Metropolis. He lives in Brooklyn, NY, which is where he’s from, too.Jared’s first day will be November 30.Katherine
