Paul Volpe will rejoin The New York Times politics desk on April 12. Recently, he led the cross-departmental Trust team as an editor.
Previously, Volpe worked at the Times from March 2011 to November 2016. During this time, he held the posts of deputy political editor and then deputy Washington bureau chief for digital.
After departing the Times in 2016, he joined Politico as executive editor, then rejoining the Times in 2021.
He also worked as a deputy politics editor and then as a national digital editor at The Washington Post. He also served as editor of newsroom technology and web projects at Congressional Quarterly.
Volpe has a B.A. from Wake Forest University and a M.A. from the University of Virginia.
