McClatchy’s Kansas City Star has tapped Greg Farmer to serve as executive editor. Recently, he held the post of managing editor.
During his 26 years with the Star, Farmer also served as senior assistant managing editor, assistant managing editor for AME/Online, AME/News, AME/Page One and Universal, and weekend news editor.
“It’s a privilege to lead this newsroom,” he said. “To have the opportunity to take on this challenge in my hometown is nothing short of a dream come true. The best days lie ahead for both The Star and Kansas City, and I’m excited to be a part of it.”
Previously, Farmer was at the Louisville Courier-Journal, where he worked as a weekend news editor, sports copy desk chief and copy editor.
Farmer has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas and an executive MBA from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
