NY Times taps Nolen as global health reporter

The New York Times has named award-winning journalist Stephanie Nolen as its new global health reporter.

Currently, Nolen is a Atkinson Fellow in Public Policy, producing a project for The Toronto Star. She will join The Times in August when the fellowship concludes.

Nolen is a veteran Globe and Mail journalist, having worked there for over 21 years and establishing bureaus in South Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, South, and Central America and Latin America.

She also reported on migration, climate change, income inequality and corruption.

Nolen was also an investigative reporter at Maclean’s and has freelanced for The Independent and Newsweek.

She is an eight-time winner of Canada’s National Newspaper Award and a seven-time winner of the Amnesty International Media Award for human rights reporting.

She has also won three National Magazine Awards and the PEN ‘Courage’ Prize.

Her work has also appeared in CBC, Yahoo and The Coast among others.

Nolen holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from University of King’s College and a master’s degree from London School of Economics.
