Business Insider’s Claire Atkinson examines how Fox Business Network anchor Maria Bartiromo has tethered her career to former President Donald Trump and what that might mean to her future.
Atkinson reports, “Some insiders say that going full Trump could win Bartiromo a spot on Fox’s evening schedule.
“‘Of the people who have auditioned for the spot, she clearly would be the smartest choice for Fox,’ said Eric Bolling, a former colleague and Fox News host. ‘She bridges the business world with the politics, and with ‘Sunday Morning Futures’ she has maintained credibility with the MAGA crowd, which is going to be important. I think Fox has suffered losing the MAGA attention. If they’re looking to regain that attention, she’d be the wisest choice.’
“With her right turn, Bartiromo also could lose the support of some in the business community who are ready to put Trump behind them and put her whole career at risk.
“In a survey of about 40 chief executives of major corporations conducted in January by Jeffrey Sonnenfeld, the founder of Yale’s Chief Executive Leadership Institute, 85% said they would ‘avoid being interviewed by TV hosts/anchors who are peddling election denial, such as Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo and Lou Dobbs.’ Fox News noted that Sonnenfeld is a contributor to its rival CNBC. Dobbs is no longer on the air.”
