Blaise ZeregaTech news site VentureBeat appointed Blaise Zerega as its new editor-in-chief on Tuesday.

He replaces Dylan Tweney, who stepped down last summer.

Zerega will oversee VentureBeat’s news and editorial products. Prior to his new role, Zerega most recently served as managing editor and president of Epic magazine, following his role as CEO of FORA.tv, a leading site for video programs on the people, issues, and ideas changing the world. Before joining FORA.tv, Zerega held a number of high-level positions at publications including Conde Nast Portfolio, Wired magazine, and Red Herring magazine.

“VentureBeat is one of the names in the technology industry everyone knows – the publication’s reputation speaks for itself, and I am looking forward to joining this incredible team during a pivotal time in the company’s history,” said Zerega in a statement. “Get ready for new editorial offerings and some very exciting product enhancements.”

The site comprises a series of distinct news beats: Big data, Business (general news), Cloud, Deals, Dev, Enterprise, Entrepreneur, Media, Mobile, Marketing, Security, Small Biz, and Social. In addition, the site includes a semi-separate publication, GamesBeat, as one of its major sections. GamesBeat focuses on video games and the video game industry.

“We are thrilled to welcome Blaise to the team and leverage his extensive media expertise to uphold VentureBeat’s quality standards,” said Matt Marshall, CEO of VentureBeat, in a statement. “We look forward to what his strategic vision will bring as we continue to grow and propel the publication to the next level.”
