Dawn Calleja of Report on Business magazine is taking over as chair of SABEW Canada.
Calleja replaces Bryan Borzykowski, who helped found SABEW Canada in 2014 and led it until this year. Borzykowski will stay on as a board member.
“I’m excited to be taking over from Bryan, who has done an incredible job building SABEW inCanada since our official launch here two years ago,” said Calleja in a statement. “I hope to keep growing our membership across the country, along with our annual Best in Business Awards, which remains the only business-focused journalism awards program in the country.”
SABEW Canada will continue to host its signature events over the next year, including the fall speaker session in September and the annual Best in Business Canada awards in April. Further details will be announced in the coming weeks.
“Getting to where we are today has been a group effort, so a very big thanks to the previous board for all of the hard work in launching and growing SABEW Canada,” said Borzykowski in a statement. “A new board means we can get more people involved and more people thinking about SABEW, and we can keep building on what we’ve done so far.
SABEW Canada now has about 200 members, among them reporters and editors from The Globe and Mail, National Post, Canadian Business, Maclean’s, MoneySense, Bloomberg, Canadian Press, the Wall Street Journal and more.
