Glen Rochkind, a former London and Washington bureau chief for CNBC, died last week at the age of 57.
Rochkind had more than 20 years of experience in television production, including executive producer and deputy managing editor at CNBC. During his nearly 15-year career at CNBC, Rochkind also served as London bureau chief, Washington bureau chief and as a senior assignment manager.
He was executive producer of a number of CNBC specials, including the network’s acclaimed special “Inside Walmart” with David Faber, which won the prestigious Peabody Award in 2004. In 2001, he and correspondent Steve Frank travelled to Saudi Arabia to score the first one-on-one interview with Prince Alwaleed.
He left CNBC in 2004 to oversee the editorial direction of BusinessWeek Television but returned to the business news channel a year later. Previously, he served as a producer for NBC and for USA Today on TV.
Rochkind left broadcasting in 2006 to become a senior vice president of Hill and Knowlton and then as the head of his own crisis public relations firm. But he was one of the producers of CBS News “60 Minutes” groundbreaking “Inside Apple” piece in December of last year.
