Quartz’s editor in chief Kevin Delaney announced Monday two new hires to Quartz’s editorial team in the United States.
They are:
Emily Withrow joins Quartz as Bot Studio editor, based in Chicago. Withrow will work with the existing mobile and Bot Studio team to help identify how bots can help Quartz staffers and readers. She was most recently an assistant professor at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, and a faculty member with Knight Lab (our Bot Studio benefactors). She’s also been a contributor at the A.V. Club. Withrow has a bachelor’s degree in French literature and a master’s in Francophone literature from Bryn Mawr (and speaks French), as well as a master’s in reporting and writing from Northwestern.
Jessanne Collins joins Quartz as deputy push editor. The push editorial team writes primarily for the Quartz app and the Daily Brief. She will be based in New York. Collins was most recently editor in chief and director of multimedia at Mental Floss, and was previously managing editor at Out and Playgirl. She has a bachelor’s from Smith College in sociology and political economy, and an MFA in creative writing from the New School.
