Stephen Foley has been named deputy U.S. news editor at the Financial Times, effective May 1.
Within that role he will have a particular focus on commissioning financial services and markets coverage.
He has served as the U.S. investment correspondent for the site since 2013, covering the asset management industry, investment trends and private wealth. Prior to that, Foley was a markets correspondent for Financial Times.
Prior to joining the FT, Foley was the associate business editor of The Independent, where he covered the credit crisis and U.S. business issues in New York. Prior to this, he covered the UK stock market and the pharmaceuticals industry for The Independent in London.
In March 2009, he was named Business and Finance Journalist of the Year at the British Press Awards. Foley holds a degree from Cambridge University, as well as a diploma in Newspaper Journalism from City University in London.
Foley is based in New York.
