Almar Latour, executive vice president and publisher of the Dow Jones Media Group, sent out the following announcement on Tuesday:
I’m pleased to announce Mae Cheng is appointed Editor and Publisher of Mansion Global.
In this new role, Mae will be responsible for the luxury real estate brand’s editorial and business strategies, as well as its P&L. She will seek to further accelerate growth in readership and continue to develop its content, tools, partnerships and global footprint. She joins Mansion Global as it moves into its second year, having recently reached an audience record and exceeded its sales targets for its first year.
Mansion Global is an important part of News Corp’s growing digital real estate business, now the world’s largest, thanks to its acquisition of Move, Inc., the operator of realtor.com in the US, and an investment in PropTiger in India, as well as a majority stake in the REA Group, which operates Australia’s leading property websites and portals in Europe and Asia.
No one is better positioned to continue growing Mansion Global than Mae, an experienced editor and reporter with a global outlook who has developed major digital initiatives at The Wall Street Journal, Cablevision and Newsday, and worked alongside many business units. Mae will report to me.
Most recently, Mae worked on the launch of a suite of professional-services content verticals at Dow Jones and The Journal. She was critical in the development of the editorially driven events portion of The Journal’s subscriber-benefits program. And she played an integral role in the rebranding of the Journal’s national politics coverage and successfully launching and growing the Capital Journal newsletter.
Previously, Mae oversaw the startup of a 24/7 news website for Cablevision. She also was the Executive Editor at amNewYork, a free daily in New York City, where her digital initiatives included augmented reality and other new technology, and where among other topics she edited real estate articles. Mae also was an editor at Newsday, where she oversaw an award-winning investigative series. As a reporter at Newsday, Mae wrote about immigration and demographics in the United States.
Mae lives in Manhattan with her husband and son and speaks Mandarin Chinese at home. Though she acquired a home last year, she confesses to still checking real estate listings.
