Reuters seeks senior banking reporter in Germany

September 14, 2015

Posted by Chris Roush

Reuters is looking for an experienced journalist with strong news judgment, writing skills and a record of breaking news to help lead our German banking & finance team, based in Frankfurt.

The person in this high-profile position will be expected to set an example on the file with hard-hitting, insightful stories of their own and play a key role in setting the agenda for our team of international service reporters covering some of Europe’s biggest financial institutions and M&A deals.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, aggressive reporter with a knack for developing sources and making big ideas come alive on the file. The ideal candidate will be nimble enough to snap from an earnings statement, write colorful wraps and steer longer-form stories, from special reports to insights and analyses, through the desk.

We need a team player who will keep the close cooperation between English and German service reporters on track, work closely with banking correspondents in other centers, and bolster ties to the ECB team in Frankfurt.

Qualifications

– At least 10 years experience in journalism, preferably with focus on banks and corporate news
– Track record as an editorial manager a plus
– Strong German required
– Excellent writing skills, news judgment and record of contact building/breaking news
– Proven ability to deliver longer-form stories with deep reporting
– Fast and accurate in whatever you do
– Solid understanding of legal risks and strong ethics
– Experience working with local language services a plus
