Reuters Breakingviews seeks Asia editor

Reuters Breakingviews is seeking an experienced financial journalist to lead our team of editors and columnists in Asia. This is an opportunity to help set the agenda on corporate finance, markets and economics in the world’s most diverse and dynamic region, while expanding Breakingviews’ high-level audience.

In just a few years, Breakingviews has established itself as an authoritative source of commentary on Asian business and finance. Building on our reputation for accuracy, clarity and insight, the Asia editor will combine access to senior executives, policymakers and financiers with razor-sharp analytical skills, fresh ideas, and the skill to explain complex concepts in lively, engaging prose.

Leading our seven-strong team in the region, the Asia editor will commission and edit original views on a range of topics, responding to breaking news and setting the agenda on important debates.

Role Responsibilities

  • He or she will help expand our senior contacts at companies, banks, investment houses and regulators, while enhancing our brand by participating in conferences and appearing on television and other media.
  • The editor will work closely with Breakingviews editors and columnists around the world to ensure seamless coverage of important breaking stories while identifying cross-border themes. 
  • He or she will also help to conceive and develop interactive graphics, videos and other ways to bring our views to life.
Requirements

  • A good working knowledge of corporate finance is essential, while a deep understanding of Asian business, markets and economics is a distinct advantage. 
  • Experience of managing teams is also a plus.
  • Applicants should have a proven record of both writing and editing crisp, punchy financial commentary to tight deadlines.
