Harvard Business Review seeks digital editor

Harvard Business Review is looking for an experienced digital editor to lead new content initiatives.

You’ll be happy at HBR if you are fascinated by the changes taking place in the publishing industry and if you believe that good ideas and well-run organizations can change the world for the better.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead at least one digital content program; this may involve planning content series, managing freelancers, editing the work of other editors, working across platforms (e.g. graphics, audio, video, events)
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of expert contributors and sources; seek out new research and ideas on topics of interest to HBR readers
  • Edit expert-written articles, staff-written articles, and other digital content
  • Design, execute, and analyze experiments with new content formats and distribution strategies
  • Work with PR and social team to expand the influence and reach of our ideas
  • Contribute to overall digital editorial strategy
  • Mentor (and possibly manage) junior editors

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

•     Wide-ranging, creative intellect and sharp editorial instincts
•     Excellent reporting, writing, and headline-writing skills
•     Ability to spot, quickly shape, and reliably line-edit a good story
•     Experience building an audience on social platforms; sensitivity to user experience
•     At least 8 years’ experience in digital journalism
•     Facility with data and graphics
•     Proven interest in ideas related to management
•     Solid technical grounding – understanding of content management systems, etc.
•     Up-to-date understanding of digital trends and metrics
•     Experience with audio and/or video a plus
•     Experience managing others a plus
•     BA or equivalent
