Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers in Florida seeks candidates for a regional growth and development reporter position.

This reporter would track growth and development issues in Indian River, Martin and St. Lucie counties and dig into the circumstances that affect readers. This reporter would take a regional perspective on many Treasure Coast-wide issues and coordinate with the Shaping Our Future editor and five watchdog reporters to cover them.

This reporter would go deep – not broad – on specific issues identified by the newsroom staff, which would require him or her to become an expert on these topics and write multiple stories from various angles. The job requires strong reporting, investigative and analytical skills and consistent reporting on developments, developers, economic development and growth in our region.

The ideal candidate would develop stories for digital platforms, use social media effectively and work seamlessly with the Shaping Our Future franchise team.

The job entails writing to a specific target audience on four platforms: mobile, tablet, web and print. A track record of enterprise reporting and building an audience is desired. At least three years of reporting experience is required.
