Reporting and Writing: The Breaking News Reporter will be responsible for finding high-impact, compelling and trending stories. He or she will learn how to develop sources, become expert in money and business, and become a better writer. Some stories will be assigned, but a premium will be put on journalists who can generate their own original ideas and angles on hot stories. The Breaking News Reporter must be a focused, careful and efficient reporter with strong writing skills, and comfortable using social media for discovering story leads and augmenting reporting.
Social Media and Programming: The Breaking News Reporter will get the chance to learn a broader portfolio of social media and programming responsibilities, and may have some direct programming and social responsibilities, depending on the time of day and week.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- 1-2 years editorial experience preferred.
- New media and business-news experience a plus.
- Leadership; analytical skills; communication skills, journalistic foundations.
