Wall Street JournalWall Street Journal editor Gerard Baker sent out the following announcement on Monday:

Our ability to provide unique products and services that meet the specialized needs of professionals is critical to the success of Dow Jones. As part of the WSJ 2020 planning process we are working on plans to enhance our existing professional offerings and to develop new ones.

In that spirit, I am delighted to announce that we will be opening a newsroom in Barcelona, Spain, dedicated to producing content that serves professionals. In addition to providing real-time news coverage for Dow Jones Newswires, the news team will work closely with our highly talented colleagues in the Barcelona-based Data Strategy Team along with developers to expand automation and to create valuable new datasets and tools for all professional users.

Dow Jones already has a staff of 250 data experts and researchers in Barcelona focused on serving professional products. With news and data working closely together, our Barcelona operation will be a center of innovation for news products that will serve all our audiences.

Postings for openings on the Barcelona news team are available here. If you are interested in applying or have questions, please contact Thorold Barker, Adrian Kerr or Stephen Wisnefski.

Also, please stay tuned for town halls that will be scheduled over the next month or so to provide overviews of our professional strategy, our Barcelona ambitions and our data strategy operation.

We have a great opportunity to reshape our professional business and set it on a course for substantial growth. Please make time to learn about what we are doing and how you can contribute.
