We’re pleased to announce that Michael Casey will be taking on a new position as senior commentator for markets and economics. In this role, he’ll be producing an expanded version of his regular “Horizons” column on global economic and financial affairs.
The column will be featured on a variety of platforms, and Michael will contribute in various other ways to all platforms, including DJX, our new specialized digital news service . He will write regular posts for the MoneyBeat blog and Market Talk. He also will compile a more comprehensive version of the popular “Global Call Notes,” the early morning analytical item that is used for internal scheduling and as a published summary of macroeconomic events. Michael will remain a frequent presence in our video programming and will help oversee the buildout of economics features on DJX.
With a wealth of international experience working on four continents, Michael is uniquely positioned to help drive our macroeconomic and global financial coverage to new heights. As we develop new editorial offerings in the macroeconomic arena and seek to deliver them in a form that is valuable to institutional clients and regular readers, Michael’s deep knowledge, experience and versatility will be critical to this effort.
Michael, who joined Dow Jones in 1997, served most recently as Managing Editor, Americas for DJ FX Trader. Among his previous roles, Michael was bureau chief in Buenos Aires for six years, an assistant managing editor and foreign exchange reporter. He is a graduate of the University of Western Australia, has a master’s degree from Cornell University and is the author of two books.
