March 17, 2011

Bill Roy, the editor of the Wichita Business Journal, writes Thursday about the paper’s 25th anniversary.

Roy writes, “On this day in 1986 the WBJ published its first paper. It broke the story of the name change from Fourth National Bank to Bank IV.

“When the WBJ began operations in 1986, it was a weekly business newspaper. It has evolved, as we show in this week’s paper, into a 24/7/365 news operation across multiple platforms.

“The Business Journal has seen a lot of changes in 25 years. Who could have even dreamed the technology that is available to us now — e-mail? Mobile apps? Facebook? Twitter?

“The blog you’re now reading?

“Each publisher, editor, reporter, account exec and staffer that has called the WBJ home has always taken seriously our responsibility as the authority for business news in Wichita.”
