Jonathan Weber is out as managing editor of tech news site The Information, he posted on Twitter.

Weber wrote, “I’m out as managing editor of , an abrupt turn of events. Best of luck to the fine staff there.” Weber had joined the site earlier this year after being the West Coast bureau chief for Reuters.

The Information founder Jessica Lessin had described Weber this way when he was hired: “Jonathan is the perfect fit to oversee our newsroom and help me chart our editorial vision. He’s highly respected throughout Silicon Valley and the media industry as a sharp editor and deep thinker about the future of news–and in fact was someone that a number of people told me I should try to hire.”

Weber was co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Industry Standard. At Reuters, he oversaw coverage of Silicon Valley, Hollywood, and a range of other topics including municipal finance and West Coast energy issues. At the Los Angeles Times, Weber was technology editor from 1994 to 1997.

Talking Biz News has sent an email to Lessin asking for a comment.
