Tennessean seeks new business editor

December 8, 2006

The Tennessean, the daily newspaper in Nashville, is looking for a new business editor after Deborah Fisher, who had been assistant managing editor for business, was promoted to senior editor.

Deborah FisherIn an e-mail, Fisher says that her “new responsibilities include overseeing story/content development for the local, business and features operations, as well as news gathering for the Middle Tennessee Community newspapers and zoned editions owned by The Tennessean.”

She added that the paper has done away with all “assistant managing editor” titles, so the new person in charge of the business desk will be called “business editor.”

“We’ve just opened up the position and posted it,” she said. “…We hope to hire someone as soon as possible.”

Fisher had been the business editor and managing editor of the Corpus Christi Caller-Times in Texas before joining the Tennessean in 2003.
