Forbes announced Wednesday that it is launching a monthly issue in Japan.

Forbes Japan is published under a licensing agreement between Forbes Media LLC and Atomixmedia, a Tokyo-based media company founded in 2010.

The editor in chief will be Makoto Takano, CEO of Atomixmedia.

“The launch of Forbes Japan comes at a critical time in Japan,” said Takano in a statement. “The economy is emerging from decades of deflation and regaining confidence. It is getting ready to resume its vital role as a key driver of the global economy. With Forbes being the world’s leading global business brand, and our knowledge of the Japanese market, Forbes Japan will be a great success.”

Forbes Japan will have access to Forbes stories from around the world and will feature local content from the Forbes Japan editorial team. The initial circulation for Forbes Japan will be 80,000 per month.

In addition to Forbes Japan, Forbes Media also publishes Forbes Asia, its flagship regional magazine, and under other licensing partnerships, Forbes China, Forbes Korea, Forbes India, Forbes Indonesia, Forbes Thailand and Forbes Vietnam. Altogether, the Forbes brand in Asia has a combined circulation of some 500,000. Forbes.com also attracts 2.9 million monthly unique visitors from Asia Pacific.
