Biz weekly sees strong online advertising growth

Tom Monahan, the publisher of Business First of Louisville, an American City Business Journals publication, writes about how it is continuing to grow after being around for 28 years.

Monahan writes, “Online advertising revenue will increase more than 100 percent this year, the second consecutive year to do so. But it’s important to note that while the number of online readers and ad dollars rapidly expand, our print circulation and advertising revenue also are growing as well.

“So how’s that possible? Well it turns out that we only have about a 30 percent overlap between print and online readers. That means that our electronic offerings are attracting a whole new audience hungry for local business news and information.

“The media business is changing rapidly. The ease and speed of offering news and information online has changed the game — particularly for traditional media such as daily newspapers.

“So much of what daily newspapers have provided their readers the next day now is available online much sooner.”
