Shefali S. Kulkarni has joined The New York Times Newsroom Development and Support team as an editor of digital storytelling and training.
Kulkarni comes from The Washington Post where she was an operations editor on the Finance and Tech teams.
Previously, Kulkarni has also taught at Georgetown University and was an audience engagement producer at BBC News. She also served as social media and engagement editor at Newsweek.
Kulkarni was also digital producer, The World, at Public Radio International and has worked as a multimedia reporter at Kaiser Health News. She was also an editorial assistant at The Daily Beast.
She has also worked at the Washingtonian Magazine and held editorial internships at The Dallas Morning News and The Dallas Chronicle.
Kulkarni is an alumna of the 2019 Poynter Leadership Academy for Diversity in Digital Media and former vice president and Secretary of the South Asian Journalists Association.
Kulkarni graduated from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and attended Beloit College for her undergraduate degree.
