The Washington Post has hired Aaron Wiener as an assignment editor in Metro.
In his new role, Wiener will be working across all of Metro’s teams, diving into breaking news and enterprise stories. He will also have a particular emphasis on helping to edit the popular Retropolis history vertical.
Wiener joins from Mother Jones, where he was a senior editor. He has also worked at the Economist as the lead writer for the Gulliver blog about business and travel. He was also a reporter at the Washington City Paper.
Additionally, he has freelanced for LA Times, Foreign Policy, Slate and The New Republic.
Wiener is a Yale University graduate.
