The Washington Post has promoted Zainab Mudallal to the post of senior operations editor in the Opinions section. Previously, she was an assistant editor for digital/operations.
In her new role, Mudallal will continue to be the lead guide to editors about which topics and stories to prioritize, and will offer guidance on publishing strategy. She will also be the Opinions Operations point of contact for special projects planning.
She also leads Opinions’ live chat efforts with readers.
Previously, she has also served as news and fit editor, and news and digital editor at The Post. She was also an editorial fellow at Quartz and an editorial assistant at Journalism Center on Children and Families.
She has also interned at National Geographic and McClatchy-Tribune.
She was also a beat reporter at Capital News Service and a staff writer at College Magazine. She has also freelanced for Patch.com.
Mudallal graduated from the University of Maryland College Park.
