The Washington Post has appointed Erin Cunningham as an evening editor for Foreign, overseeing breaking news coverage through a critical part of the day.
She starts September 20.
Currently, Cunningham is a Middle East correspondent at The Post, covering Turkey, Iran, Iraq, and Afghanistan. She was also an Egypt-based correspondent.
Previously, she has served as a senior correspondent for Middle East and North America and then as a Middle East, Africa, and AfPak editor at GlobalPost.
She has also worked independently for CNN, BBC World, Time, The Independent, Times of London, Al Jazeera English, Al Jazeera America, Irish National Radio (RTE). Cunningham was also Kabul correspondent, The National (UAE).
She was also a news editor at Egypt Today & Business Today Egypt and has reported and edited for Montenegro Times.
Cunningham graduated from the American University of Paris.
