Washington Post appoints Childress deputy editor

Sarah Childress

The Washington Post has tapped Sarah Childress as a deputy editor on its long-term investigative team. She begins Feb. 28.

Recently, Childress has been working as a series senior editor at Frontline PBS running the Local Journalism Initiative and overseeing the digital operations, among other tasks. Previously, she served as a senior editor and director of local projects, and senior editor.

She also worked as a regional editor at GlobalPost in Boston, managing and editing freelance reporters based in Latin America, Europe and the Middle East. She also served as Africa correspondent at The Wall Street Journal.

She was also a national affairs reporter at Newsweek.

Her journalism has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Scripps Howard Award Broadcast.

Childress graduated from Notre Dame and teaches an investigative journalism class at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
