The following excerpt announcement was sent out by The Sheboygan Press:
Brandon Reid, a veteran journalist who has led the Manitowoc Herald Times Reporter since 2015, will take on the additional role of editor of The Sheboygan Press on Monday.
Matt Piper, the editor of The Press since fall 2019, is moving into a new role as an editor overseeing in-depth reporting projects, said Jim Fitzhenry, executive editor of the USA TODAY NETWORK-Central Wisconsin.
Besides being editor at The Press, Piper has been a content coach for USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin reporters covering health, education and business. In his new position, Fitzhenry said, Piper will play a larger role in overseeing major stories like the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on hospitals and schools.
Before joining The Sheboygan Press, Piper was part of an in-depth reporting team at the Deseret News, in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he covered youth mental health and local enterprise. Before that, he reported on a range of topics, from city government to public lands and college sports, at The Salt Lake Tribune.
In addition to his role as editor of the HTR, Reid has served as a content coach for watchdog reporters at Gannett Wisconsin newspapers, including reporters in Sheboygan, and served as interim editor of The Sheboygan Press. Prior to joining the HTR, Reid was editor of The Rock River Times in Rockford, Illinois, for 12 years.
