Minnesota paper appoints Buntjer editor

Julie Buntjer

The Globe in Worthington, Minnesota, has named Julie Buntjer as its editor.

Buntjer has 28 years’ experience in journalism, the past 17 and a half of which have been with the Worthington newspaper. Previously, Buntjer served as a reporter, covering agricultural and watershed issues, Nobles County government, and enterprise and feature stories for The Globe.

Publisher Joni Harms said:

“Julie has played a significant role in the success of The Globe over the years. She brings a deep passion for the community and desire to educate and inform the citizens of Worthington and surrounding area. She is beloved, respected and a joy to work with. I am excited to watch her build her team and guide them going forward.”

After college, Buntjer worked at Tri-State Neighbor, an agricultural publication. She then became a reporter for the Redwood Gazette and has also served as an editor at Wabasso Standard.

Buntjer added:

“I am excited to become the next editor of The Globe. The newspaper industry has experienced many changes in recent years, and my goal is to continue to produce a quality, accurate and informative newspaper for readers in the communities we serve.”

Buntjer graduated from South Dakota State University with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture journalism.
